Child Support

Compassionate, Client-Oriented Child Support Lawyers

In a divorce or other marriage dissolution, the best interests of the children are paramount. In this stressful time, you need a compassionate and skilled attorney to lay out your options and get you what you need. Contact Nichols Law, P.L.L.C. and schedule a consultation.

Child support is given to the parent who is given custody of the children. In our home state of Texas, the "non-custodial parent" (that is, the parent that is not given custody) is usually responsible for giving a portion of his or her income for the benefit of the child whether or not the custodial parent can afford to pay for care and support of the children. Typically, child support payments are made until the child turns 18 or graduates from secondary or high school, whichever is later.

In special circumstances, however, the courts can deviate from the child support guidelines. The lawyers of Nichols Law, P.L.L.C., can rely on close to 40 years of experience in all aspects of family law; they can work to create the best possible child support agreement for our clients in Texas, as well as clients throughout the country and overseas. As in the rest of our work, we plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Child Support Enforcement

The attorneys of Nichols Law, P.L.L.C., are fully prepared to prosecute anyone who does not fulfill their child support obligations. Violating a court order in this manner is considered contempt of court, meaning that the violator could be sent to jail. In this and any other area of family law, our attorneys are experienced in the courtroom and willing to take any case to trial. On the other hand, Nichols Law, P.L.L.C., will defend those unjustifiably accused of not paying child support obligations.
